Core concepts

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)	การบำรุงรักษาทวีผลแบบทุกคนมีส่วนร่วม	A philosophy, or a production-management tool, whose ultimate target is company performance.
Production TPM	TPM ในส่วนผลิต	The first phase, run on five pillars, aiming at zero breakdown, zero defect and zero accident.
Company-wide TPM	TPM ทั่วทั้งบริษัท	TPM extended to every operating unit; the five pillars become eight.
Company Performance	ผลสัมฤทธิ์ขององค์กร	Quality, cost, delivery, safety, morale and environment taken together.
World Class Manufacturing (WCM)	การผลิตระดับโลก	Manufacturing capability comparable with the best in the world.
Zero Breakdown / Zero Defect / Zero Accident	เครื่องจักรเสียเป็นศูนย์ / ของเสียเป็นศูนย์ / อุบัติเหตุเป็นศูนย์	The three targets of production TPM.

The eight pillars

Individual / Focused Improvement (Kobetsu Kaizen)	การปรับปรุงเฉพาะเรื่อง	Cross-functional teams attacking quantified losses. The engine of the whole system.
Autonomous Maintenance (Jishu Hozen)	การบำรุงรักษาด้วยตนเอง	Operators keeping their own equipment in basic condition, through CLAIR.
Planned Maintenance	การบำรุงรักษาตามแผน	The maintenance department’s work, beyond what the operator can do.
Operation & Maintenance Skill Development	การพัฒนาทักษะการปฏิบัติงานและการบำรุงรักษา	A skills matrix per person and asset, plus knowledge management.
Initial Phase Management	การคำนึงถึงการบำรุงรักษาตั้งแต่ขั้นออกแบบ	Feeding lessons from existing assets into the design, purchase and installation of new ones.
Quality Maintenance (Hinshitsu Hozen)	การบำรุงรักษาเพื่อคุณภาพ	Creating conditions in which defects cannot occur. The pillar that owns zero defect.
TPM in Office / Non-production Involvement	TPM ในสำนักงาน	Removing the office-process loss that leaves production waiting.
Safety, Hygiene and Working Environment	ความปลอดภัย ชีวอนามัย และสิ่งแวดล้อม	Zero accidents treated as a design objective.

Measures and indices

English	ไทย	What it means
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)	ประสิทธิผลโดยรวมของเครื่องจักร	Availability × performance efficiency × quality rate.
Availability	อัตราการเดินเครื่อง	Run time as a share of planned production time.
Performance Efficiency	ประสิทธิภาพการเดินเครื่อง	Actual speed against design speed, including minor stops.
Quality Rate	อัตราคุณภาพ	Good product as a share of everything produced.
Six Big Losses	ความสูญเสีย 6 ประการ	Breakdown, setup and adjustment, minor stops, reduced speed, defects, and start-up loss.
Loss Tree	แผนภาพความสูญเสีย	Loss broken down item by item with frequency, duration, owner and money value.
MTBF — Mean Time Between Failure	เวลาเฉลี่ยระหว่างการเสีย	Answers whether the equipment is becoming more reliable.
MTTR — Mean Time To Repair	เวลาเฉลี่ยในการซ่อม	Answers whether the maintenance team recovers faster.
BM / PM / CM Rate	อัตราการซ่อมเมื่อขัดข้อง / เชิงป้องกัน / เชิงแก้ไขปรับปรุง	The share each type of work takes of total maintenance.
Productivity	การเพิ่มผลผลิต	The ratio of output to input.

Practice on the floor

English	ไทย	What it means
CLAIR	ทำความสะอาด หล่อลื่น ปรับแต่ง ตรวจสอบ ซ่อมเบื้องต้น	Cleaning, lubrication, adjusting, inspecting, repair — the routine care transferred to the operator.
Abnormality Tag	ป้ายความผิดปกติ	A tag raised at every defect found during the initial deep clean.
5S / 5Ss	5ส — สะสาง สะดวก สะอาด สุขลักษณะ สร้างนิสัย	The foundation of TPM, because cleaning-as-inspection is step one of autonomous maintenance.
Visual Control	การควบคุมด้วยการมองเห็น	Making abnormality visible immediately, without reading a document.
Poka-Yoke	ระบบป้องกันความผิดพลาด	A device added so the machine will not run unless the sequence is correct and safe.
Why-Why Analysis	การวิเคราะห์ด้วยการถามทำไมซ้ำ	Asking why repeatedly until the cause reaches system and standard level.
P-M Analysis	การวิเคราะห์ด้วยหลัก P-M	P for phenomenon and physical, M for mechanism and the 4Ms. For chronic loss.
SMED	การลดเวลาเปลี่ยนรุ่น	Separate internal from external work, then convert internal to external, heading for one-touch setup.
Standard Work	มาตรฐานงาน	The best known sequence, with takt time and standard work in process.
Small Group Activity	กิจกรรมกลุ่มย่อย	Small area-based groups that set their own targets and improve their own equipment.

Engineering and planning

English	ไทย	What it means
Maintenance Prevention (MP) Design	การออกแบบเพื่อป้องกันการบำรุงรักษา	Designing from the start for maintainability, economy, safety and versatility.
Life Cycle Cost (LCC)	ค่าใช้จ่ายตลอดวงจรชีวิต	Every direct and indirect cost across the machine’s life, not the purchase price.
FMEA	การวิเคราะห์ลักษณะข้อบกพร่องและผลกระทบ	Working out in advance what can fail, what the consequence is, and where to guard.
RCM / RBM	การบำรุงรักษาที่เน้นความน่าเชื่อถือ / อิงความเสี่ยง	Prioritising maintenance by failure consequence and by risk.
CBM — Condition-Based Maintenance	การบำรุงรักษาตามสภาพ	Acting when condition indicates, rather than on a calendar.
Predictive Maintenance (PdM)	การบำรุงรักษาเชิงพยากรณ์	Using vibration, current and temperature data to predict failure ahead of time.
Spare Part Control	การควบคุมอะไหล่	Keeping parts available without tying up more capital than necessary.
Maintenance Budget Control	การควบคุมงบประมาณงานบำรุงรักษา	Planning and controlling the budget to bring maintenance cost down.

Lean and production systems

English	ไทย	What it means
Just-in-Time (JIT)	การผลิตแบบทันเวลาพอดี	Producing only what is needed, when it is needed, in the amount needed.
Lean Production	การผลิตแบบลีน	The system derived from studying the Toyota Production System, aimed at removing every kind of waste.
Waste-free Production (WFP)	การผลิตแบบปราศจากความสูญเสีย	Competing on speed, measured against four drivers.
Muda / Muri / Mura (3-MU)	ความสูญเปล่า / ภาระเกินกำลัง / ความไม่สม่ำเสมอ	Three angles on loss, which have to be looked at together.
Work in Process (WIP)	งานระหว่างกระบวนการ	Work stuck between stations, hiding the process’s problems.
Takt Time	เวลาแทค	The production rhythm that keeps pace with customer demand.
Economy of Scale / Economy of Speed	ความได้เปรียบจากขนาด / จากความเร็ว	Two ways to compete, leading to two different production systems.
